Title : Fortress of Four Doors
Author : C. Alan "calan" Larsen
E-mail Address : calan@netzero.net
Description : "Fortress of Four Doors" is a single player game based on a
central hub design. It uses all four worlds of Hexen and includes a
re-appearance of Eidolon in the last map.

Additional Thanks to : Raven & Activision Software for Hexen II. Virtus for
Hexmaker, Yahn Bernier for BSP and all the various websites that have info on
map editing etc.

Editors Used: Most of the maps started out using Virtus Hexmaker, but were
expanded with the use of BSP. I used Hexvici to compile all maps.

+ Game Information +

Single Player : Yes
Cooperative : No
Deathmatch : No
Difficulty Settings : No
New Sounds : No
New Graphics : No
Music : Hexen2 CD & Hexen2 Midi's

+ Construction +

MAPS : Built from scratch (All right, I did use some of the Hexmaker prefabs!).
Maps (in order of sequence):
hexn1.bsp, hexn2.bsp, midcas.bsp, uprcas.bsp, lwrcas.bsp, casl.bsp, meso0.bsp,
mezo1.bsp, mezo2.bsp, guardian.bsp, lwrquad.bsp, romeric0.bsp, hall.bsp,
lowerh.bsp, pyramid.bsp, u_world.bsp, rick3.bsp

Bugs : In the last map, after you dispatch Eidolon, the original end of game
page appears - I wanted to change this but didn't want to mess with the c code
right now. Also, a couple maps are quite small - mere place holders for ideas
that haven't quite jelled (maybe someone has maps to insert in these places -
that would be cool!)

Note: Each level has sufficient supplies to survive without god mode, except I
think for the last map which, if anyone can survive without cheating they will
get 1000 Drew Carey points!

Build Time : Three years off and on
Texture Wads used : Vitrus.wad, Hex2full.wad

Please E-mail me via this website regarding bugs, or for ideas or suggestions
you may have! I will only respond to constructive criticism, so be nice.

+ Installation Instructions +

Unzip "Fo4d_X.zip" files in your base directory on the drive where Hexen II
lives, a folder named fo4d will be created under your Hexen II directory. The
fo4d.bat file contains the single line:

              glh2 -game fo4d +playerclass 1 +map hexn1

which can be edited to reflect your operating environment (note: use h2 instead
of glh2 if you don't have gl acceleration hardware).

+ Playing +

Once you have started up Hexen II with the above bat file, wait for the map to
load and then play. You can save the game and return as you would a regular
MP.

Or you could just dump all the *.bsp files into the Hexen II/data1/maps
directory, start Hexen II, hit escape and type: "map hexn1" and the game will
load the first map.
